These are the sleeves that never end...

Yes they go on and on, my friends...
Some person started knitting it, not knowing what it was,
and she'll continue knitting it forever, just because...
These are the sleeves that never end...

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times - sleeves are not my thing. I lose interest in them soon after they start. I underestimate them - once I've finished the body of a sweater, I think, Great, I'm nearly done! Just the sleeves left to go! ...When in actuality, sleeves are actually a really significant proportion of the total knitting time.

So here is a sleeve for my Layter. In true "avoid seams like the plague" fashion, I have converted the flat garter stitch to garter in the round using this brilliant method (video). I'm knitting with both ends of a center-pull ball, which is slightly tangly, but not too much of a bother.

The garter stitch goes on, and on. For the past 6 dozen rounds or so, it's been straight garter stitch, and now I've reached the increases. On the one hand, this adds a little bit of interest... on the other hand, the rounds are now getting longer! So it's a mixed blessing.

I've knit a little bit of the other sleeve, but not very much. I was planning on wearing this jumper at the onset of autumn (ha!), but now I'm envisioning it keeping me warm before the spring thaw. We shall see...
