To celebrate finishing all of my deadline knitting, I allowed myself to cast on a very special shawl: Lazy Katy.
I've been wanting to knit this for a long time - I spun it up with a specific purpose in mind, and I bought the Fiber Optic gradient braid at Knitter's Connection in Columbus last summer.
This is a brilliant pattern. It's so simple, but yields such a wonderful spiraling shape. I can't wait to wear it -- and it shouldn't be long, because it knits up so incredibly quick. The body of the shawl is all stockinette, with a simple lace border at the end.
With any other yarn, this pattern might be tedious from its wide stretches of stockinette - but I remain captivated by the slowly changing colors, always eager to start the next row. If there was ever such a thing as a perfect knitting project, this would be it -- it's easy, I love knitting it, and I can't wait to wear it. In some ways, I hardly want to finish it, because then I won't be knitting it anymore!
