Knit Sock Club Parcel #5

This parcel arrived while I was visiting family in the states - how nice to have some new yarn as soon as I got back! If you've been lurking in any number of Ravelry groups you may have heard about the kerfuffle regarding KNIT Magazine's sock club, and how many people (myself included) are unhappy with it, but regardless of problems with the organization, the yarn has been fine. And this one was no exception: Shipment #5 is Sparkleduck.

Sparkleduck Jenny Viola 6-ply sport yarn all craft media sock club

I do want to emphasize that while the communication and organization behind the KNIT Magazine Sock Club have left much to be desired, the members feel no ill will towards the dyers or designers involved. In fact, I already have plans for this beautiful bright purple yarn: It might be my favorite yarn of the club. The base is Sparkleduck Jenny, a hefty 6-ply in the color Viola - a perfect violet purple.

Jenny comes in a generous 150g skein and is a nice sportweight sock yarn. I'm planning on making a pair of Kalajoki out of this - I think it will make the bright purple really shine.

  1. Gorgeous color, I like the shading I'm seeing and bet when you start working with it, that will show up more then we see in the hank. Not up to speed about the problems, but then socks and I haven't yet met on the needles. It remains one of the things on my to do list. Happy to have found your site, always happy to meet a fellow knitter/crocheter.

  2. Silly me, we've met before, doing one of the linky's, just scrolled down and noticed a few of your projects that I remembered. Must refill my coffee cup. Was here dropping and so my mind wasn't on WIPW, or FOF, or YOP etc, where we've connected previoiusly.
